We have 3 different types of systems (California Tan, Fantasy Tan, & Infinity Sun) that we use with over 14 colors that can be custom blended to get that perfect natural tan you desire. WHAT TO EXPECT & all about the procedure & process of a custom airbrush tan at Sunquest
When you are nearing your treatment
PLEASE MAKE SURE: Book all pedicures, manicures, waxing, facials, massages before your airbrush appointment as these services can effect your airbrush tan. If you plan on doing these services on same day or within a few days of each other please book the airbrush last in line. Massages are ok the day after an airbrush, once you have showered. Waxing should be done 24 hours prior to your airbrush.
1. Start exfoliating your skin on a regular basis and keep your skin as hydrated as possible. Stefani highly recommends Fantasy Tan Daily Moisturizer. It is extremely hydrating and truly gives you a 12 hour moisture, working with the airbrush solution and not against it. Pay close attention to your hands, elbows, knees, ankles & feet as these tend to be the driest.
2. Shave any areas the day before (please do NOT shave the day of your appointment)
Shaving strips natural oils from the skin and the solution sometimes is hard to penetrate without these oils, leaving an uneven or blotchy result, especially the lower leg area.
3. Please come in deodaront & makeup free. Most people say lotion free but I do recommend to put on a light layer of lotion 3 hours before your airbrush. If you tend to have very dry skin, it is highly recommended.
4. What to wear or not to wear? Most wear thong underwear for the best result. Bra & underwear are fine and we have disposable thongs & backless bras, we do not recommend bathing suits as it may not come out of the fabrics. Keep in mind the clothing you will be wearing after your treatment for neck lines or bra strap lines. (This is why we recommended topless.) Feel free to go nude if you are comfortable. Men must wear underwear or we have disposable briefs.
5. When coming in for your appointment, please come in a few minutes early to fill out proper paperwork if this is your first time at Sunquest.
6. We recommend bringing in flip flops to leave with or you can wear the sticky feet, which we provide to protect the soles of your feet, home. This is so the solution doesn't come off on your socks, boots or shoes.
7. You will go over with Stefani the color you desire. We have many possibilities & Stefani will recommend what she feels will be best for you. Keep in mind that the solution works with your skin's natural chemistry & no two people will have the same exact result. Our spray tan products are known for giving a natural, warm color - not orange or ashy like some other self tanning products on the market.
8. Your hands, elbows, feet, knees & ankle area are sprayed with a barrier cream to make sure you have the most natural tan. We also spray these areas extra light as they are naturally lighter and this will give you the most natural and realistic results.
9. You will then get a normalize spray if you choose to do so this will also enhance your tan & will make your sunless tan last up to 3 days longer. Then your sunless is applied and you will see instantly your beautiful tan!
10. You will blowdry yourself for about 10 minutes evenly & then you are done & ready to get dressed carefully.
What to expect right after treatment for the remainder of the day
1. Make sure you are wearing loose dark clothing and if you are sprayed without a bra we recommend not to put back on for remainder of the day to avoid lines. You will get cosmetic bronzers on your clothes but washes out of most fabrics. (avoid silk, nylon & leather)
2. Do not panic, you will most likely look a little unnatural the first day when you are sprayed with our bronzing color solution and will darken on top of your sunless tan developing darker. You may even think you look way too dark, this is absolutly normal after you shower (recommend at least 12 hrs or next day for best result) you will look terrific and have a natural tan. You can opt for clear solution or we can mix 1/2 clear & 1/2 bronze so that you do not look so unnatural. Some people love the way it looks.
3. Do not panic, again you may have some cosmetic bronzers that gather in creases of your skin like in the neck area or crease of arms, again this is normal and after your first shower this will rinse off to an even natural tan.
4. It is normal for you to feel sticky after application. This will start to go away a few hours after your session. Some areas of your skin dry quicker than others making your tan looking uneven for that first day but after your 1st shower that again will be gone to an even natural tan.
5. Avoid washing your hands, sweating, showering, applying lotions or deoderant or makeup for at least 8 - 12 hours. If you have to use a sanitizing foam or gel on palms of hands only.
How to care & maintain your sunless tan
1. Keep showers short & use mild body wash, either Cetaphil or our Fantasy Tan body wash. Do not stay in a hot shower or tub very long. Do not scrub your skin; just a light cleansing is recommended. Pat skin to dry
2. Moisturize and keep your skin hydrated; we highly recommend Fantasy Tan Daily Moisturizer. Use morning & evening for best results. Do not use any lotions that contain AHA, alpha hydroxy acids. Alot of facial skin care products contain acids please check ingredients and use cautiosly as they will fade your tan very quickly.
3. Keep shaving on legs to a minimum as well if you can.
4. If you really want to extend the life of your airbrush you can use Fantasy Tan Tan Extender it is a moisturizer with sunless DHA. This is used only once every 3 days.
5. Wait to you see your tan start to fade and if you do fade in even areas then you know it's time to start exfoliating. Best thing to do is take a long soak in the tub (saunas & Jacuzzis are also great) the idea is to soften the skin and get it steamy. use washcloth or loofah with a good scrub and go in round circular even motions.
Keep in mind we highly recommend fantasy tan body wash & moisturizing lotion for a perfect tan, color & durability. For longer lasting results we recommend fantasy tan tan extender with sunless
We have experienced some other products effect color of your sunless (dove, oil of olay, jergens, softsoap & some others) so please be careful, especially with manicures & pedicures since the lotions they use can change the color of your tan.
